Does your heart beat faster when working on next-generation photonic technologies and advanced thin-film processes?
Do you get energy from building innovative photonic integrated circuits that make an impact in quantum technology, communication, and data processing? As an Integrated Photonics Engineer, you will work at the intersection of research and industrial application in one of the most advanced technology domains today.

What does your week look like as an Integrated Photonics Engineer

As an Integrated Photonics Engineer, you will develop and optimize advanced thin-film and piezoelectric structures on silicon nitride waveguides. You are hands-on in cleanroom environments and actively involved in integrating new materials into photonic chips.

Your responsibilities as an Integrated Photonics Engineer include:

  • Developing new deposition schemes for piezoelectric materials such as PZT, aluminum nitride, and future materials like lithium niobate and barium titanate
  • Integrating piezoelectric stacks on SiN waveguides and characterizing device performance
  • Improving cleanroom processes with a focus on efficiency, yield, and reproducibility
  • Collaborating with researchers and engineers across industrial and academic partners
  • Supporting customers in applying photonic technologies in real-world applications
  • Contributing to innovation in silicon photonics and thin-film device engineering
  • As an Integrated Photonics Engineer, you act as the link between material development, process engineering, and device performance.

Do you recognize yourself in this?

  • MSc in Applied Physics, Nanoscience, or a related technical field
  • 4+ years of experience in technology development within a cleanroom environment
  • Strong knowledge of thin-film deposition and lithographic processes
  • Experience with CMOS or silicon photonics is a strong plus
  • Hands-on mentality and experience with experimental work
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of process/device behavior
  • Team player who thrives in multidisciplinary R&D environments

Our customer

You will join a leading Dutch R&D institute focused on accelerating integrated photonics and translating scientific innovation into industrial applications. In this environment, you collaborate with universities and high-tech partners to develop solutions that contribute to energy-efficient communication, data security, health monitoring, and more.

You will work at our client, which is at the forefront of integrated photonics, thin-film technology, and photonic integrated circuit development.

TNO plays a central role as a research organization bridging science and industry.

Within the Photonic Integration Technology Center (PITC), you collaborate with partners from academia and the high-tech industry, including PhotonDelta, Eindhoven University of Technology, and University of Twente.

Who are we?

Technology means progress. Continually finding ways to do things differently, to improve products, services, and processes. That is what makes the heart of every technology organization and tech professional beat faster. In the projects they are working on, but also for themselves. That means something different for each individual. For one person, it means being guided to their dream project; for the other, it means developing their skills. Making that possible, that is the human touch. And that is what makes our heart beat faster.

ENTER specializes in multiple competencies: Chemical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Physics, Production Development and Software Technology.

ENTER's professionals work with our partners and customers on a project basis. We select and match projects and employees by focusing on experience, ambitions, personality and, of course, a passion for technology. Communication and writing skills also play a role in making the ideal match.

Our business managers and recruiters work closely together, making sure we have the right colleagues available for our customers at the right time. We also offer our employees a broad career perspective.
